The Brain1 item

AC Infinity

Controller AI+

Essential

The brain of every tent I run. Automates temp, humidity, VPD, fans, lights, and CO2 from a single dashboard. Pays for itself in the first cycle in fewer mistakes.

Featured in the Controller AI+ video.

The Tent1 item

AC Infinity

Cloudlab 422 Advance 4x4 Tent

Essential

Thick 2000D fabric, observation windows, tool ports in the right spots, and zippers that actually seal. If you want to run CO2 or hold tight VPD, seal quality matters more than people admit.

Airflow & Exhaust1 item

AC Infinity

Cloudline T6 (6 inch) Inline Fan + Carbon Filter

Essential

Quiet, UIS-compatible (talks to the Controller AI+), and pulls enough air to keep a 4x4 dialed even mid-flower. Carbon filter handles smell completely if you swap the carbon yearly.

Approx.
$220 combo

Lighting1 item

Your pick

600W-800W full-spectrum LED

Essential

For a 4x4 you want 600-800W of actual draw, full-spectrum, dimmable, with a separate driver to keep heat out of the tent. Avoid cheap quantum-board knockoffs; pay once, run for a decade.

AC Infinity Ionboard S44 is a solid UIS-compatible option that ties into the Controller AI+.

Approx.
$400–$900

Climate Control1 item

AC Infinity

HYDRONE 7 Humidifier

Recommended

Solves the dry-tent problem for good. Hooks into the Controller AI+ so it triggers on humidity set points instead of a wall timer. Quiet, refills are easy.

Hands-on review in the AC Infinity Videos series.

CO2 Enrichment1 item

AC Infinity + local welding supply

CO2 Regulator + 20lb Tank

Advanced

Once everything else is dialed, CO2 enrichment to 1,200 ppm is the next step. The AC Infinity regulator plugs into the Controller AI+ for set-point dosing. Pro tip: buy the tank empty online and swap it at your local welding supply for a much better price.

Full setup video on the AC Infinity Videos page; tank duration math on the CO2 Analysis page.

Approx.
$250 + $130 tank

Sensors & Measurement2 items

AC Infinity

Soil Sensor Probe

Recommended

Reads moisture, EC, and root-zone temp in real time and feeds the Controller AI+. Takes the guesswork out of watering frequency in big fabric pots.

Apera or Bluelab

pH + EC pocket meters

Essential

You cannot grow well without measuring pH of your water in and runoff out. Cheap pH pens drift; get a real meter and calibrate it monthly.

Approx.
$80–$150

Growing Medium1 item

Build A Soil

Living Soil Mix

Recommended

I ran my Ethos Genetics grow in fully organic Build A Soil. Top dress, water with rainwater or RO + minerals, and you skip the bottled nutrient hustle entirely. Soil gets better every cycle.

If you'd rather run coco or peat-based, those are valid too. Living soil is just what works for me.

Approx.
$60 per cubic foot

Containers1 item

Smart Pot or AC Infinity

5–7 Gallon Fabric Pots

Essential

Air-prune root system, no overwatering, easy to move. Five gallons is the floor for a flowering plant; seven if you have the space.

Approx.
$30 for a 4-pack

Genetics2 items

Seedsman

Premium Cannabis Seeds

Essential

Wide catalog, reliable shipping, and they keep their freebies stocked. My partner code takes 10% off any order; reveal it on the promo codes page.

Approx.
$30–$120 per pack
Fast Buds

Autoflower Seeds

Recommended

Best autoflower genetics I've run, period. Consistent phenotypes and fast cycles, great for a perpetual setup or a first grow. My partner code takes 15% off; reveal it on the promo codes page.

Approx.
$50–$90 per pack

Cloning Setup2 items

AC Infinity

Cloudlab Propagation Tent

Advanced

If you keep mothers and run clones, a dedicated propagation tent gives way tighter control than starting clones in the corner of a big tent. Faster establishment, higher success rate.

Full review in the AC Infinity Videos series. See also the Cloning Guide.

Mixed

Rockwool Cubes + Cloning Gel + Dome

Recommended

Pre-soaked rapid rooter or rockwool cube, clonex-style gel, and a humidity dome. That's the entire kit. See the cloning guide for the technique.

Approx.
$40 total

Harvest & Cure2 items

Felco or generic

Sharp pruners (multiple pairs)

Essential

Cheap dollar-store pruners gum up in an hour. Buy two real pairs so you can swap when one gets sticky, and keep them clean with rubbing alcohol.

Approx.
$30–$80
Mixed

Dry Rack + Wide-Mouth Quart Mason Jars + Boveda 62

Essential

Hang whole branches in a dark tent at 60-65°F, 58-62% RH for 10-14 days, then move to wide-mouth quart jars at 75% fill. Boveda packs lock in 62% RH for the long cure.

If I was starting today, in this order

You do not need everything above on day one. This is the order I'd buy if I was building from scratch with a real budget.

  1. Tent + light + carbon-filtered exhaust. The bare minimum to grow at all.
  2. pH and EC meters. Cheapest, highest-impact gear in this list. Buy them before nutrients.
  3. Fabric pots + soil. Living soil if you have the patience; coco if you want faster feedback.
  4. AC Infinity Controller AI+. Single biggest quality-of-life upgrade after the basics.
  5. HYDRONE 7 or a basic humidifier. Climate control once you can see your VPD.
  6. Soil Sensor. Stops the overwatering and underwatering cycle for good.
  7. Propagation tent + cloning supplies. Once you have a keeper, you stop running seeds.
  8. CO2 system. Only after everything else is locked in. CO2 is a multiplier on a dialed environment, not a fix for a bad one.
